picture Immediate Challenges

It is challenging to focus on longer-term goals when operational issues demand immediate attention. Our first priority is to assist in getting those fires under control so the organization's best-laid plans don't end up on a shelf gathering dust.

Organizational Assessment

Our goal is to get an organization from Point A (its current state) to Point B (its envisioned state). In order to give one's business strategy a fighting chance, we recommend taking a quick inventory of the organization's level of maturity.

By assessing each of your Organizational Components, we benchmark Point A, identifying additional elements that may need to be included in the strategy.

Development of Vision and Strategy

An organization's vision describes what the organization should be at a specific future point in time (Point B). Its strategy describes the steps needed to get there. We assist organizations in refining both.

This requires a balance of a leadership and consensus. If vision and strategy are dictated from the executive suite, it fails to engage the people required to implement it.

Conversely, if vision and strategy are developed by consensus alone, executive priorities can be undermined. We help organizations achieve this delicate balance, documenting the results, and ensuring each person knows their role in the process.

Strategy Implementation

The most under-achieved challenge in business is the implementation of strategy.
This is our specialty. We ensure vision becomes reality in the form of measurable results.

Optimizing Operations

The processes of a business must be both efficient and effective..

Efficiency has to do with how many resources are consumed (hours, dollars, cycles) when conducting tasks and activities.

Effectiveness has to do with how well the customer is served in the process.

We address both, identifying opportunities for optimization and measuring progress along the way.

Right-Sizing Staff & Structure

In an economic downturn, simply down-sizing can introduce unexpected issues at a time in which missteps are unaffordable.

We evaluate the structure of the organization, the degree-of-fit of individuals to their job, compensation levels and structure, the headcount relative to the workload, and the balance of fixed and variable labor components.

Change Cycle Streamlining

Most executives would like to affect immediate change. Stephen Covey characterizes organizational change as an organic process, much like a garden. And key to the adoption of rapid and effective change initiatives is "soil preparation."

We identify the "enablers and inhibitors" to the adoption of change within an organization, working with management to streamline the change process.

Measuring Success

Although financial statements provide a wealth of management information, they alone are insufficient. Also valuable is the timely capture of statistics, or Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Our Executive Advisor will perform a monthly analysis of your financial statements and KPIs. We create simple, timely "dashboards" that reflect the progress of operational performance and the adoption of strategic change.

Developing Healthy Boards

Some businesses have a Board of Directors, some have a Board of Advisors. Others answer to no one. Boards can be a wonderful asset or a nightmarish liability, depending on the degree to which board members understand their role and conduct their activities in a professional manner.

We assist in establishing and/or developing boards and their meetings, ensuring all parties work together to achieve their corporate vision.

Maturing Management Practices

The accomplishment of a task requires action. Issues require a decision.
If an organization's Issue Resolution Process is immature, task execution can bottleneck.

This is one of many management practices we review to develop the skills and character of the management team.

Maintaining Focus

Our Executive Advisor develops a structure of performance commitments and milestones among management, creating accountability for the systematic accomplishment of strategic objectives.
